Solid vs Liquid Vitamins - Which is Better?

Many people are confused about the availability of Vitamins and Supplements when they are in a pill form as opposed to the liquid form. The purpose of this guide is to shed some light on this subject.
The most popular reasoning that I hear is that if it's a liquid it should absorb quicker than a pill. And while that may seem logical, its not the whole story.
First, one has to realize that any vitamin or supplement you take is going to be absorbed in the first 10 inches of your intestine. And while a supplement in liquid form may indeed be more quickly absorbed, the liquidity of the supplement itself makes it go through your intestines too fast to be properly absorbed into your body.
A pill form of pharmaceutical Vitamins and Supplements with chelated minerals are also very absorbable as they are made from a food source and they are in a pill form so that they will not 'run right through' the intestine. Think about having a cup of coffee and in a few minutes you need the rest room. Yes, the pill may take a bit longer to absorb than the liquid but on the same token they will be more gepletely absorbed as they will take long enough to get through the intestine so that it is totally absorbed.
That is not to say there is no place for a liquid vitamin. Some people cannot take a pill, such as in many gastric bypass patients or those finding pills hard to swallow. Then the liquid vitamin/supplement is the only solution and is far better than not taking a vitamin at all.
I hope this has helped to clear up the misnomers about liquid vs pills in vitamins and supplements. This guide is just that...a guide, it is not meant to treat, cure or prevent any disease. Please consult with your health care practitioner.
