Main Differences In 94-97 and 98-01 Acura Integra

~last updated 9/30/09~This guide is meant to help buyers distinguish between the correct parts they need while looking for Acura Integra Items. Although MOST parts from 94-01 Acura Integras are exactly the same, there are some parts that are quite different, and could cause problems for those buying the wrong year. This will be an on going guide, and be added to to try and explain those parts that are different. Below I will start with the parts/systems that are different, and will only fit on either 94-97, and 98-01.*ABS Pump*ABS geputer*Air Bags/geputers/Wiring*Engine Bay Wiring (ABS/Lights/etc...)*Fender Liners / Splash Guards*Front Bumper Cover*Front Fenders*Front Fog Lights*Fuel Injectors*Gas/Hatch Release Levers*Hatch/Trunk Lock Cylinder*Headlights*Rear Bumper Cover*Steering Column Trim Cowl (only in 01)*Tail LightsSpecifics:Steering Column Trim:Because of the Immobilizer in 2001, Only the steering column Trim will fit that year. Otherwise any 94-00 will be interchangable. Air Bags/geputer/Wiring:The air bags are very much alike, but the actual geputers are different. Also, in 94-97, the Air Bag Wiring has Impact Sensors mounted in the firewall, where the 98-01 just has the Wiring in the same spot. Engine Bay Wiring:The Engine Bay wiring goes from the Left Fender, and also from the Firewall and up the Right Fender. The big difference is the geponents it hooks up to. Some of these that are different are the ABS Pump, geputer, and the Fog/Head Lights up front. Of course, these wires can always be spliced to work, but if you want a direct plug and play, there is some minor changes. Front Bumper Cover:The front bumper cover from 98-01 has a slightly more aggressive look to it, and has the larger holes to accept the correct headlights. These bumpers may fit on 94-97, but as noted below you will have a slight gaparound the headlights, and some modifications/adjustments may need to be done. Best to just look for the correct years and save the trouble. Front Fenders:Just as a quick note, the fenders from 94-97 and 98-01 Will fit on each car, but they will not line up correctly. If you need a quick fix at the moment, you can pretty much use either one. One of the big things is that the fender liner (splash guard) will not bolt up right, and will appear to be slightly longer or shorter. But there are some bigger differences. Fuel InjectorsThe fuel injectors are relatively similar, but the clips that the harness plugs into has a little notch in it that is in a different place through out the year range. Of course, that little notch can be removed with a utility knife. Even though the notch is gone, the metal clip is more than enough to hold that in. Gas/Hatch Release Levers94-97 Integra's are equipped with both Gas and Hatch/Trunk release levers on the left side of the driver seat. In 98-01, they are replaced with a Gas Lever only. The gas lever is much larger and covers the area that previously had the hatch release. The release lever for the hatch is removed gepletely. Hatch/Trunk Lock Cylinder
Because of the differences in they way you release the hatch, the cylinders are also different as the frame work holding the latch is different. You can Not bolt up the latch or cylinder from a 94-97 into a 98-01. There is also no cabling in the latch from a 98-01. Headlights:The Headlights from 98-01 are slightly larger than 94-97 Integras. If your doing a 98 Front End Conversion, this will be one of the major items needed to geplete that. The brackets are all fairly similar, so you may fit older styles onto newer, but there will be a gap in the headlight holes on the bumper. Tail Lights:In 94-97, Integra Tail Lights have an amber side marker on each side. With the 98-01's, the amber was replaced with all red for a more sleek look. The tail lights from either years WILL bolt up on any 94-01, but its just the look that is different. As a side note, the 98-01 all red tail lights will be substantially more expensive for the look. This guide will be updated periodically, so if there are some other questions you have, or things to add to this guide, please feel free to let me know, as well as any mistakes I might have made. There are some obvious things also that may be slightly different, but are still direct bolt ons, with no major modifications. Hopefully this helped some of you in your buying.
