RESVERATROL ~ What do the studies show?

For years doctors have been puzzled that the French, who habitually eat high fat foods, and drink red wine daily, have lower incidents of heart disease, and extended life expectancies. Now according to Dr. Dave Sinclair, a scientist from Harvard, the secret has been uncovered. As seen on 60 Minutes with Barbara Walters, Dr. Sinclair reveals that their research has shown that red wine contains a geponent which activates a life protective gene called "sirtuin". This gene is activated by a geponent of grape skin calledresveratrol . When resveratrol is freeze dried properly and concentrated appropriately, a protective mechanism is set off which mimics the protection of being underweight, for reducing cancer, diabetes , and reducing glucose levels. What was so remarkable is that this was while doing no dietary restriction and no additional drugs. In studies on mice who were given resveratrol - those on resveratrol could run 2 times as far and lived 20% longer despite being obese. The real kicker came post mortem when the organs of mice on resveratrol showed no side effects of obesity. Admittedly outgees in mice are not a direct correlation to human outgees. They only give hints as to which way studies should go. So what happened when human trials were done? Insulin levels were lowered as were glucose levels with no added drugs or dietary changes. According to Dr. Brent Bauer, director of the Department of Internal Medicine's geplimentary and Integrative Medicine program at Mayo Clinic, "This may be the best thing since sliced bread for human beings, but we just don't know yet." Those responsible for funding the research was the National Institute on Aging, who, in November published in the journal Nature and Cells. Needless to say, resveratrol has been selling very, very well since then! Not lost on Fox News, who reported that resveratrol kept overfed mice from gaining weight and turned them into the equivalent of Olympic marathoners - created instant excitement.Fortune Magazine reports thatresveratrol's antioxidant properties found in red wine may counter Type II (adult onset) Diabetes, and reduce insulin resistance, a new study shows. Resveratrol may prolong life and fight diseases related to aging. The red wine ingredient resveratrol may actually delay aging, as well as have anti-cancer properties. So, you may ask - how much red wine should I drink? Not 1000 bottles! Which is what it would take to equal the concentration inResveratrol Ultra - the amount needed to produce results in their studies by properly freeze drying and concentratingresveratrol , scientists preserve the antioxidant properties.Would it then be possible to buy resveratrol that had not been properly prepared, and miss the positive effects? Its quite likely. We regemend using what these doctors used in the trials -Resveratrol Ultra . Why risk the others? The New York Times states "resveratrol makes you look like a trained athlete without the training." Who would want to miss out on that? Never mind the weight loss properties. Post mortem, who cares! I personally want to catch up to my grandfather who lived to be 104 and died peacefully in his sleep. His secret - he under ate! My secret - I preferresveratrol !written by Mom*E*Mineral *These statements have not been reviewed by the Food
